Council of Priests

A group of priests chosen to represent all the priests of the diocese to aid the bishop in the governance of the diocese.

The Diocesan Council for Adult Faith Formation supports ongoing faith formation and education across the diocese.

Through engagement with the clergy, religious and other people of the diocese, and especially lay women, to be a council that facilitates ongoing dialogue and action at parish, regional and diocesan levels regarding the participation of women in the life and structures of the church.

Supporting people in the diocese who are culturally & linguistically diverse (CALD).

Diocesan Council for People with Disabilities and their Families

  • Assists parishes seeking practical ways to become more inclusive of people with disabilities and their families.

Diocesan Council for the Aged

The Diocese of Wollongong Council for the Aged promotes ministry to the aged in our local area.

Diocesan Council for Young People

Council to represent the needs and interest of young people across the Diocese.

Diocesan Finance Council

Supporting the Bishop in the manangement of the temporal goods of the diocese.

Diocesan Liturgical Commission

  • A group of people appointed by Bishop Peter Ingham to promote liturgical renewal in the diocese.
  • They provide formation for liturgical ministers to supplement that given by local parishes, provide guidelines and policies on liturgical matters and assist the Bishop in introducing initiatives from the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference.

Diocesan Parents and Friends Forum

The primary aim of the Parents and Friends Forum is to assist in the development of meaningful and authentic partnerships between parents, school communities and parishes, and identify common goals based on shared values.

Diocesan Pastoral Council

The Diocesan Pastoral Council of the Diocese of Wollongong is a vital aspect of communion with the Church. Considering the pastoral questions of our day and making appropriate recommendations to the Bishop, the members of the Diocesan Pastoral Council are imbued with a pastoral spirit to aid the Bishop with the pastoral governance of the Church.

Diocesan Schools Council

A body advising the Bishop on the care and mission of Catholic Schools in the diocese.

Diocesan Stewardship Support Committee

Offering support to those parishes and individuals seeking information and support in the practice of stewardship as a way of life.

Justice, Ecology & Peace Council

We aim to promote social justice and peace, ecological concern and respect for life in society, in the light of the Gospel and the social teaching of the Church.

We try to ensure the JEPC has a prophetic voice that strategically influences public and social policy to bring about Justice, equity and ecological sustainability

Macarthur Social Justice Network
Meets at St Thomas More Catholic Church in Ruse on the second Saturday of each month from 2:30pm-4:30pm.


Kiama Social Justice Group
Meets regularly at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiama.
